Trevor Jackson (Playgroup) - Party Mix (2001 Mega-Mix)

This mix is basically Trevor Jackson saying "I have every good record that came out between 1980-1990, and I'm going to play every single one back-to-back in a A.D.D. type fashion". He didn't really miss much with this one, classics from hip-hop, electro, post-punk, new wave, disco, house, funk, it's all there. This one is definitely for the heads, and people that can't handle the mega-mix style should avoid this!
I found this mix to be VERY helpful while making the transition from records/vinyl to Serato. So many must-have classics that you probably forgot to get on digital format!
Here's the closest thing I could get to a full playlist (Thanks to everyone that has contributed so far!). If you know any of the mystery tracks, or can make any corrections (I know some of these are wrong) please post them in the comments section!

this mix has been online forever. d-i-r-t-y.org (France) has it as a .ram file and trevor jackson's site has it as well. the solid steel mix is great

The record you have tagged as Young Mc - Know How is an old breakbeat record Using the same sample called 'Frankie Bones - And The Break Goes Again'. I think the version of Was dog a doughnut is by Cat Stevens as well. I can't believe you have nearly got a full tracklisting though, good work. I can send you mp3 samples of the tunes above if you want to be sure.

The bit behind the intro to Purple Rain is The Phantom by Renegade Soundwave. Great Blog

This is a king mix! Thanks so much for posting!

FYI

That version of "you are in my system" is the one by Robert Palmer, not The System

A couple additional bits of info for the list:

Special Request - Salsa Smurf should I think come before Jellybean - Was Dog A Doughnut

The track between Jellybean - Was Dog A Doughnut and BeSide & Fab 5 Freddy - Change The Beat (French Rap)
is Jimmy Spicer - Money (Dollar Bill Y'all)

The Imagination (Acapella) bit is from: Imagination - Flashback (from the Night Dubbing LP)

The track between Yazoo - Situation and Cybertron - Clear
is David Joseph - Let's Live It Up (Nite People) (Instrumental)

I Can't Wait - I think this sounds more like the Spyder-D - I Can't Wait (To Rock The Mike) rap version rather than the original Nu Shooz version.

Definitely a few more unidentified tracks in the mix but none that I can recognize.

One of the Grandmaster Flash tracks you have on this list early on is wrong, as it's Superrappin.

Mr. & Mrs. Dale - It's You is in this mix (somewhere in the middle), as is Harold Faltermeyer's Axel F (near the end), Debbie Deb's When I Hear Music (in the beginning), and Louis Prima's I Wan'na Be Like You,

oh, and Roxanne Shante's Def Fresh Crew (just like two words from it: :"so fresh")

Michael Jackson's billie Jean is on here, too

The Prince listing you have for "Purple Rain Intro" is wrong, as that's the start of the song Let's Go Crazy.

Also, you can correct these titles:
Run DMC: Sucker M.C.'s (Krush Groove 1)
Whodini: Magic's Wand

The track before Delta 5 - "Mind your own buisness" is:
Units - "The Right Man"

Good work putting this tracklisting together!!

The thread at the following link seems closest: http://board.low-bee.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22699&start=30 , but I see you've got some different ones here too. I guess someone ought to join em all up. I can't seem to post on the other thread, so heres my few bits...

Loved this when it came out, btw. I only got into music about '89 & for all my digging, you still miss stuff if you didn't hear it at the time, so this was an education. I totally disagree with its few critics saying its just cut & pasted....there is the odd dodgy moment, but I think it works exceptionally well & you could hardly do five minute crossfades when its 20 seconds a tune! He did the classic hip hop thing & found the best few seconds of the records too: the bits he picks make some of these sound MUCH better than the whole original records are.

On the ones that are left out or wrong on this or the other list, its noticeable that I'm a late 80s/90s guy at heart & everyone else seems to be early-mid 80s experts...

The vocal over Earth People is Frankie Knuckles' house classic "Tears".
The Prince intro everyone seems confused about isn't actually the original Prince record, its "Hooligan 69" by the Ragga Twins, on Shut Up & Dance (I think someone got confused...I can't hear Shut Up & Dance's own "Lamborghini" on there).
Order-wise around there, Electribe 101 "Talking with Myself" is after DSK & D-Shake is after Renegade Soundwave.

I also seem to remember the Fat Boys being mentioned when lists first started appearing years ago, but I could never pick them out...think someone confused their rappers...also Paul Simon's "Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover" got mentioned (?!) & Afrika Bambaataa's ace "Looking For the Perfect Beat" (which I can't hear on it either). There are a few bits of vocals I know but haven't been listed yet too, which I can't be bothered to check. Theres certainly a bit after Tilt which I thought was original to Rebel MC's "The Wickedest Sound" but which may well originally be from the eighties hip hop things mentioned.

thanks to everyone for the help & Mr Jackson for the inspirational mix :-)
